ETHICS OF HEART STROKE
We all know heart stroke is a biggest health issue in our life. It is a monster decease and had taken millions of lives and it is growing up at a rapid rate on this earth. Chances of surviving with healthy heart, after stroke or surgery, are not very great. Heart stroke brings lot of changes in our life and sometimes it may pose additional burdens on family members.
Out of 10 people 9 males get heart problems, but ladies are less prone to it. Only animal food contain LDL cholesterol. Eggs & milk also come under this category. No other food contains it. Plant foods contain zero cholesterol. Oils – all cooking oils contain triglycerides. Also dry fruits, nuts and seeds contain high amounts of oil with triglycerides. Try to eliminate usage of oil. Vegetables contain HDL cholesterol which removes blockages.
CULPRIT OF HEART STROKE
Plaque is formed between the inner walls of arteries and the membrane. When the deposit goes beyond the elasticity of the membrane, rupture takes place which can block the blood flow to the heart or any other organ in the body. This is the main reason for heart stroke and it happens all of a sudden without any pre-indications.
Whatever the status of plaque formation and amount of plaque in the blood vessels, at this point of time, if we can stop further plaque formation, we will not prone to heart attack in future. If we go one step ahead and can reduce the amount of plaque from existing deposits, we are for sure, saved from heart stroke in our life time. But how can we pull out the plaque deposit? The immediate answer is eating proper food and change in lifestyle – I will discuss this in a separate article. Water, fiber, vitamins & minerals do not have calories and cholesterol. Add them as much as possible to your food.
MINIMIZE HEART RISK
Deposits of triglycerides and oxidation of LDL forms plaque in arteries. Antioxidants can stop the process of oxidation of LDL cholesterol. Taking vegetables rich in anti-oxidants for example cucumber can reduce plaque deposits. Vitamin A, E, C & sprouts are also good antioxidants. If we can remove cholesterol & triglycerides from our daily food, in other words, if we can stop eating animal food and stop using oil in our food, existing blocks will not grow in future and formation of new blocks will not happen. This can guarantee us that we are free from heart attack as long as we live.
Drugs do play wonderful role in heart problems during emergency situations. Medicines are available which can reduce the blockage by little bit and ease the blood circulation, providing temporary relief, but this condition is sustained for 8 hours only. If you are experiencing symptoms of stroke, these medicines can give you enough window to prepare yourself and can admit in hospital. Nature had provided us a mechanism to cope up with blockages – multiple arteries in the heart get opened up naturally, which are dormant throughout the life till this point of time. These are tiny arteries forming an interlaced structure which carries the blood, bypassing the blockage. They naturally open up in athletes because their physical activities demand more amount of blood circulation.
FRIENDS OF HEART STROKE
High blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, alcohol, obesity & stress are the culprits and act as medium which speed up the formation of blockages. High blood pressure damages nerves and arteries. They are designed to carry blood with normal blood pressure. Eating fruits and vegetables brings down high blood pressure to normal. Meditation is very much helpful to control high blood pressure. Obesity can cause high blood pressure – one kg more than normal weight can increase blood pressure by one ml.
Eating more than required and lack of physical activity leads to diabetes. Earlier days 70% of daily activities consist of physical work. Contrary to this in present times modernization invented machineries which replaced the physical work in our life. To compensate this we can inculcate walking in daily life. Walking is better than jogging for heart patients. Few minutes of walking is equivalent to an hour of jogging.
EVALUATE HEART RISK
No medicine can save us from heart stroke. They relive the patient temporarily and they cannot be taken granted for permanent use. Instead we should think of how to restore healthy arteries and healthy heart through proper diet and necessary changes in life style.
Conventional angiography involves thin wire is pushed into blood arteries to estimate the blocks – this method is crude and internal rupture takes place and there is a possibility of nerves getting damaged. Also the result is not accurate. Alternate to this, CT Angiography is preferred. The result is accurate and one can know how many blocks are formed and also tells us the percentage of blockage. I can say this is the highest achievement of medical technology in this area.
Bypass or stent – whatever may be the case, they have their own success vs. failure rates. Neither of them is a permanent solution. Each solution has its own life period and patient may have to undergo surgery again in future. Patients with multiple heart surgeries may fail to recover. No heart surgery guarantees anything. Technology in this corner is still in evolving stage. Let us not provide our body to cut open and do experimenting with our heart. Even if the surgery is success, the patient cannot be the same person prior to surgery and it is irrevocable loss in health. We have only one life and we have only one body, let us safeguard it against heart problems. By the time you reach here reading this sentence, you must have realized that you can fore know the number and amount of blockages in your body and what to do to reverse the existing heart problem or prevent new heart problems in future.
