If you follow this, one can gradually lose weight in a healthy way.  But one has to ensure that the calories acquired from breakfast are consumed before lunch and lunch calories are consumed before dinner. So please plan for low calorie stomach filling food.

We sleep as we are influenced by the mind.  Because mind believes sleep is required for the body.  Human brain doesn’t require sleep, it only require rest.  Great scientists, inventors, great politicians, famous movie stars … in every field who had success stories in their life slept only few hours a day.  I heard when I was young, Adolf Hitler sleeps only few minutes a day that too while he is on his horse. I never verified the authenticity of the statement, but it may be true.

Drinking 2 glasses of water first thing in the morning removes toxins from the body.  Drinking warm water is effective.  Saliva contains strong antibiotic acids when you get up in the morning. Early morning before brushing teeth, when we take water, these antibiotic acids get mixed with water and clean the digestive system.

It is a general belief that one should drink “x” liters of water for good health. This is a pure myth. Take necessary amount of water when you feel thirsty. Otherwise water intake is not necessary.  Taking excess water has impact on the body.  It depletes sodium levels in the body and brain swelling may happen.  Another face of the fact is gulping of water does no good to the body. Body consumes necessary amount of water and rest is sent out. Also keep in mind that cooked food should be consumed within one and half hours.  Please remember cook the vegetables in open air i.e., do not close the lid while cooking. Usually vegetables are exposed to chemical sprays during harvesting.  These chemicals wouldn’t leave the vegetables by washing them under running water.  Soak them in tamarind water for 15 minutes and wash them to get rid of the toxins.  Alternatively they can be soaked in water mixed with baking soda for 15 minutes before washing them.  Either of the two methods can remove chemicals up to 80% from the surface.  While cooking them, there is a chance that some of the remaining chemicals may get evaporated.  If the lid is closed, they come back to the vegetables, hence cook them with open lid.

We need to be aware when we are taking food as to what kind of calories are getting into the body.  Sweets are high in calories but they are called empty calories.  Body will store them in the form of fat.  Body will digest only nutritive calories.  Let me explain more about this –

There are two types of foods viz., empty calorie foods and low calorie & nutrient dense foods.  Sweets and junk foods come under empty calorie category.  They are high in calories and low in nutrients.  Body will process these calories very quickly and leaving us in hunger state and we end up eating more & more.  These calories will go straight into belly fat.  Other category foods are fruits and vegetables.  They are low in calories and high in minerals & vitamins.  Also most of them are high in fiber content.  Body loves these raw foods and the minerals & vitamins are readily absorbed.  The fiber content is good for health and requires more time to digest hence this leaves a feeling of fullness in the stomach. It also has more water content and it is good for constipation.

Eating multiple times of small portions of food in place of one large meal is good for health.  This is what majority of people believe.  When we look at the facts, it takes 3 to 4 hours to digest the food that we had consumed and stomach needs one hour rest after that.  One should not take water 30 minutes before the food and hour and half after the food. Our stomach releases enzymes and acids before taking food.  It happens irrespective of the quantity of the food that we are planning to take. So, taking food multiple times a day is practically not possible, and if we do so, undigested food accumulated in the colon can pose problem of cancer.  But this can be exempted for raw food eaters. Because fruits and vegetables contain large amounts of water in them and the vitamins & minerals available in them can quickly get into the blood.  The fiber content in them is very good for bowel movements and the question of undigested food never arises.  The rule is to eat less than your hunger. And the golden rule is not to eat when you don’t feel hungry. Diabetes people can consult your physician before switching the diets.

It is widely believed that tomato falls under raw food category and it should be eaten fresh.  But the fact is Lycopene in tomatoes is difficult to absorb into the blood when raw tomatoes are eaten. When the puree or sauce is heated for couple of minutes, chemical structure of lycopene changes, and can be easily absorbed by the body.  When the same is heated for 30 minutes, almost all lycopene can be absorbed into the body.  When tomato is cooked in oil instead of water, body can absorb more easily, because lycopene is fat soluble by nature.  It can be enhanced further by using olive oil for cooking tomatoes.  Lycopene found in yellow shade tomatoes can be readily be absorbed by the body without heating.
